Students applying to the graduate program are strongly encouraged to apply to the open scholarship competition if they want to be considered for internal funding. Please note that this MUST be filled out using the online system, there is no paper version of this form.

The proposal for the open scholarship competition is different than your statement of interest that you prepare for your application for the graduate program. The open scholarship competition research proposal must be a short but detailed statement describing the theoretical background to the question(s)being investigated, the hypotheses being considered, precise section on the methodology that will be used to collect data appropriate to answering the question(s). The final section should explain the significance of the research without being redundant with information provided in the background section. You must cite scientific references.

Open Scholarship for applicants in Social & Cultural and Primatology (to go with admission package) deadline: February 1, 2010 (due with graduate application)

Important note regarding references: The reference is not a character reference but an academic reference. Usually applicants ask former professors from whom they have taken courses. These professors can comment on the applicant's academic ability and their ability to do research. An employer can act as a reference if he/she can comment on the qualities necessary for graduate school.

It is important to have the referee complete the actual reference form included in the application package.
